We started from Ponchartrain three days ago
SanCrainte’s got a place on the Huron
Mmichilimac is the last outpost from there
Hudson Bay and the northern lights
Hey there Indian interpreter is setting traps a lonely life
But the beauty in the north is unmatched in civilization
With the Money Traders our there own Men
But they call us half breads we don’t fit in
The settlers are flooding the Ohio
I can see my days are numbered in this land
A hundred years have passed since our fathers
Indian interpreters ever one,
We go where no Man has gone
And we did it without a gun

I am compelled to speak up for my ancestor at this point for on my fathers side were Interpreters and traders from the Detroit and River Raisin area of Michigan., Naming One John Bapt.SansCrainte he is on the treaty of Greenville, he was an Interpreter and trader his wife Margarete Solo's mother Marguerite Labadie died when she was one or four so she would of been raised by Her father Claude Solo's second wife a Sauteuse Indian named Marie as was Indian custom, So the son also named John Bapt. SansCrainte would of been raised as a Indian, they lived near and or amongst the Indians at the cost of the Potawatomie’s and the Huron river, His Son looked like,Face paint and even slit Ears, dressed like, and fought with the Indians during the revolution, at the fall of Sackville he was captured along with Pontiacs Son and ( ( IHB: Hamilton at Vincennes, December 18, 1778, to February 22, 1779 February 1st. [1779] The two Ottawa Chiefs Egushewai & Chamintawa with the Peoria chief came with 10 Warriors, designing to go to the falls of Ohio, & beggd to have Sergeants Robert and Sanscrainte of Captain La Mothe's Company to go with them-- (244)),who along with Pontiac's son’s life were spared by the intersection of someone who’s life was saved by Pontiac's father, in his case, and in SansCraintes case when his own father who was working for Clarke as an interpreter at the time lowered his musket(Should bee raised the would be executioners musket and appealed to Clarke) when his sons life was threatened I bring this up to illustrate a couple thing one thing is the Traders and Interpreters were go betweens for the government. So people like Benjamin Franklin who bad mouthed them calling them a despicable lot should of remembered these were the men that opened the west not his armed forces these men lived amongst and were at peace with the Indians long before the revolution. As John Powle/Powell had done for the Pennsylvania and Maryland Governors. The other thing is some people like to write their own history using sound bites and skipping over the facts, or taking one episode out of someone’s life and judging them while ignoring the rest of there life, depending on there agenda, so I have seen in my own family history where someone has tried to ruin the reputation of a family member, they usually have a agenda, (I Need to revise this as I've become more educated over the years and can word this better Kevin Lajiness 10/24/2014)
